OTTAWA — March 8 is International Women’s Day (IWD) and in recognition of the day, the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) is reaffirming its commitment to breaking barriers and advancing opportunities for women and equity-priority groups in the skilled trades.
This year’s theme, For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment, is a powerful call to action, the forum states.
“Building on the legacy of our Supporting Women in Trades (SWiT) Conferences (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), CAF-FCA is proud to host the first-ever Supporting Equity in Trades (SET) Conference on May 24-26, 2025, in Toronto,” a release reads. “This conference expands the conversation beyond gender, recognizing the importance of intersectionality in achieving true equity.”
“Equity in the trades isn’t just about access — it’s about ensuring every trades professional, regardless of gender, background, or identity, has the support and opportunities to thrive,” said France Daviault, CEO, in a statement. “At a time when the value of diversity and inclusion is being questioned in some parts of the world, we remain steadfast in our commitment. On IWD, we celebrate progress while recognizing the work still ahead. The SET Conference will be a space for action, collaboration, and lasting change — because building a strong workforce means embracing and empowering all who contribute to it.”
